Mr Sark 227 Posted February 14, 2013 Do you not like the charge mechanic in 4E (i.e. use a standard action to move your speed and then make a melee basic attack)? Seems to me like these guys could have been getting a lot more attacks off if charging was allowed. Â Also, attacks of opportunity? Your enemies run away from trained fighters a lot with no adverse consequences. Â Love the show! Â Still learning the combat mechanics, but I can tell that it's going to be the first area I hack up to serve my own purposes. *opinion alert* Feels too board-gamey. Understandably since that was part of Wizard's experimental remodel. Â Good heads up though, I'll work charging in and see how it flows Keep in mind that we are usually 3-4 eps ahead of what's aired so changes don't seem to happen immediately on the show. Mr Sark 227 Posted February 14, 2013 Did you ever play 3.0 or 3.5 rules Sark? Â Unfortunately, negative. Always wish I had, but I went from many other games, to 2nd Ed., to many other games, to this current group who were all already familiar with 2nd Ed., to now. I've read enough to recognize that 3rd & Pathfinder are pretty slick. Â Us switching rules is entirely possible since I warp them out of any recognizable shape anyway. I've even jumped game systems entirely in the same campaign. Went from Shadowrun to Call of Cthulhu one time. Not that I recommend that. Share this post Link to post
Mr Sark 227 Posted February 14, 2013 I am curious to know if you've ever played Word of Darkness stuff by White Wolf? Â Also, do you always DM games? From the comments that have been made it seems like you're the DM all the time and never a player. If so, are you happy with that or would you like to be on the other side of the screen for a change? Â I have played in a Werewolf campaign but I prefer White Wolf's books for reference and shitter reading. Not a put down. Taking a shit while you read about the Technocracy is epic. Â I haven't played since the early 90's. Sometimes I think it would be fun to play but I remember all my old DM's hating all my questions. So I stick to telling teh storeez. 2 Share this post Link to post
Mr Sark 227 Posted February 14, 2013 Hey! Will you guys ever gain experience and level up? Stay sexy. Someday. OK! Share this post Link to post
pcopps 12 Posted February 14, 2013 Â I haven't assigned XP yet, I tend to do it when they hit lulls between campaign beats. But yes, they have accumulated enough XP to level. Some, more than once. Â Any possibility of a segment or ceremony where you dish out XP to everyone? You know, Like the Oscars? 1 Share this post Link to post
Mr Sark 227 Posted February 14, 2013 Hey Sark! :-) Could you scan in some of your masterful drawings you have created to help illustrate the environment the characters are in, phallic references and all? I know it would help me envision their environment as well. Thanks! Â I'll see. Usually I have very elaborate maps worked out but this campaign is a legal pad full of scribbles. Maybe when / if I get improved maps done I'll upload them. If you can't wait just head on over to Pornhub and check out all those D&D maps! 1 Share this post Link to post
Mr Sark 227 Posted February 14, 2013 Sark, given that the death penalty in 4th ed. is a LOT less severe (Raise Dead is a level 5 ritual that can be performed by most casters, and there is no XP or Con penalty), do you expect to see more reckless Gerry maneuvers once the group reaches that point? Â Much like the Honeybadger, Gerry doesn't give a shit. Resurrection-shmezurrection 1 Share this post Link to post
choochoo_the_wonder_slut 740 Posted February 14, 2013 Say you're starting a campaign and have only one opening left, and the final spot goes to either Jeff Goldblum or anyone who's ever lived, you're absolutely going Goldblum, right? Because, come on. Share this post Link to post
Ibwhipped 6 Posted February 15, 2013 Â Unfortunately, negative. I, sadly, no longer have a group to play so if you ever want the 3.5 stuff let me know. Share this post Link to post

bardsong1984 2 Posted February 15, 2013 While running a campaign once I had one player that could not stand the laugh of another player. He told the player with the annoying laugh if he ever laughed like that one more time he would bitch slap him.(in real life) Immediately, that player nervously laugh and BAM!, he got bitch slapped. Have you ever had any physical altercations arise (in real world) between two players? Share this post Link to post
m10103 0 Posted February 16, 2013 Always wish I had, but I went from many other games, to 2nd Ed., to many other games, to this current group who were all already familiar with 2nd Ed., to now. I know you had talked about Top Secret in a previous 'Crazy Shit' segment. Out of curiosity, of those 'many games' what are some of your favorite systems and has this group played with any other systems? Thanks! Share this post Link to post
Gangulon 26 Posted February 17, 2013 Mr. Sark, Â Is the adventure your own creation or is it a pre-made one?(As in one you can buy at a game shop) I was wondering how much of the campaign, settings, characters, situations, etc are made by you. Share this post Link to post
LanternRayner 1 Posted February 19, 2013 Yes, it's from Tron! I added the 'Mr' because 'Sark' was snapped up on Xbox Live within moments of its launch a decade ago and I was looking for one syllable gamertag. It is also often assumed to be calling back to the villain from the US TV show 'Alias'. Or sometimes, 'Stark'. Or 'Shark'. Or 'Shrek'. Or 'Sack'. :(/> Â Awesome! "End of line." Opexy 5 Posted February 19, 2013  Much like the Honeybadger, Gerry doesn't give a shit. Resurrection-shmezurrection  This is going to be my new signature for everything!!!! Epic answer! Share this post Link to post
Opexy 5 Posted February 19, 2013 Hello Mr. Sark, Â I was listening to the show (which is amazing), trying to catch up. I listened to alot of them in a row and there was one thing i couldnt understand. If mildrid the dwarf lady was a stow away, and saw the pirates invading their ship, then why did she not have her gear still? And how did she get to the new ship that wasnt the initial cruise that they were on? Maybe i miss understood but either way the show is hilarious and keep it up. 2 Share this post Link to post

Kurtvfleming 0 Posted February 20, 2013 Sark, how do you keep people from missing games? If you have a weekly game and cant have all the players for a game once and a while, how do you continue? Any tips on how to play it through or things you have done to keep the story going? Share this post Link to post
Rejo1479 0 Posted February 21, 2013 Seems like you have a lot of experience with different RPGs. Have you ever played an "indie rpg?" I think you guys would have fun playing Spirit of the Century from Evil Hat games. At least, I'd have fun listening to you guys play it. Share this post Link to post
Chaosound 50 Posted February 21, 2013 So this has been brought up over and over throughout the forums but just to put it right to you Mr Sark... What's the hold-up with bringing Gerry back in? Surely it would have been easy to just have him be one of the survivors that decides to join the group in their escape attempt. Share this post Link to post

Any tips on how to play it through or things you have done to keep the story going? Â If you mean how does he keep people from missing the weekly recording of Nerd Poker, I was always under the impression that they would record an episode or two in advance if they knew that someone had to go on tour/out of town for work. Aroundz 5 Posted February 22, 2013 Mr. Sark,I know you already said that you felt that there were enough plugs for this podcast, but Machinima Realm would seem like an obvious choice to try and promote this show, seeing as they are the rpg side of the network. Â That being said, love the show and glad I found it! Share this post Link to post
Mr Sark 227 Posted February 27, 2013 What's the best way to handle a player/character who wants to take over the game for themselves? (Other than not inviting them to the game because of... reasons) Â Fudge some rolls. Disrupt their strats. Keep that punk on his/her heels. 2 Share this post Link to post

Closest has been Brian vs Gerry every time I try to introduce Gerry's most recent characters to the game. 1 Share this post Link to post
