jarrycanada 2483 Posted October 24, 2013 Ooh, I like the idea of the candy turning the kids into killers. I remember growing up there were always these stories about people finding razor blades in apples. How great would it have been if a movie honed in on that fear that parents and kids sort of have about Halloween? That's what I was thinking of the razerblade urban legend that never really happened. but the idea got into parents heads and the next thing you knew mom and dad had to play detective. we threw out a lot of candy apples around my house, Not that I liked them anyway. Maybe, just maybe the events in Halloween 3 are a prequel story and that maybe the reason why they can't kill Michael Myers is because he's a robot built by Silver Shamrock Novelties company. They got a another factory that builds only Michael Myers style robots. we never did see any of the robots being manufactured. That's my George Lucas version of this movie. 2 Share this post Link to post
Joe Lerini 7329 Posted October 24, 2013 I'm glad Halloween 3 has no ties to the Myers stuff, aside from the commercial playing within the movie. I just never really cared for Michael. I dig Jason Voorhees. *shrug* Share this post Link to post
IHugKittens 53 Posted October 24, 2013 I'm a little surprised no one *cough*June*cough* proposed that Ellie had ALWAYS been a robot from the beginning. The thought crossed my mind. Granted, it makes no sense whatsoever. But if they had just turned Ellie into a robot or built her from scratch in that (maybe) two-hour period, why would they have the robot tied down on a gurney in that room? Maybe she was always a robot, got too into her character, needed to be re-programmed and the straps were a precaution in case it didn't take. I too don't understand this at all. The thought of Ellie being a robot the whole time crossed my mind as well, you know, I remembered that at some point during the sex scene (did we REALLY need three sex scenes by the way, JESUS!) he said "don't you ever get tired?" and "How old are you?" and she said "I am older than I look!" or something. So that might be a clue, I don't know... Maybe the old man did not have a daughter at all and Irish Samhain warlock thought that doctor Drunk was getting too suspicious so he dragged him into this trap? I really don't know, I mean I know some films are left open to interpretation and all but this one... no matter how you try to interpret it it doesn't make any sense at all, nothing adds up. 3 Share this post Link to post
RichardChristopherCampbell 0 Posted October 25, 2013 This would have been an amazing Lethal Weapon Prequel movie. If Hunsaker didn't sleep with his daughter and he called Roger for information on Cochran, this would've fit in very nicely...Oh, and Joshua from Lethal Weapon being a robot makes the lighter scene much more interesting. Wien 401 Posted October 25, 2013 I finally got around to watching this, and I have to say.... Crap story and characters aside, John Carpenter was still a master of atmosphere in this time. When the kid's head melted to bugs and snakes, it was pretty damn creepy (nevermind the logistics of that...). Nothing made sense, but at least the atmosphere was right for it...? 1 Share this post Link to post
joshg 207 Posted October 26, 2013 The coroner says "There would have to be some bone fragments or teeth or something. I've got nothing to indicate there was ever a body at all. Just ashes and car parts." So which is it - are the robots completely synthetic? In which case, a Robot Ellie that was harvested out of a real person would be inconsistent with all the other robots. Or were all the robots originally people, with the remains of their skin, bones, etc. - which would be inconsistent with the coroner's findings. Share this post Link to post
DeathToMikeyBay 130 Posted October 26, 2013 To the guy wondering why they didn't just use white latex for the skull masks: when painting a 3 dimensional object that has a lot of dark recesses, a lot of the time it's easier to just start the object all black and then only paint the raised areas to create a quick and cheap (the whole point of a mass produced product) shadow effect as less colored paint means more of the black shows through. There, the movie makes TOTAL SENSE now. Share this post Link to post
cmac94 191 Posted October 27, 2013 I just finished watching the movie and will listen to the ep tomorrow, but was anyone made angry by this movie? It almost seemed like the makers of this movie were like "Yeah, we know it makes no sense. Who the fuck cares, just give us your money." And the crazy abrupt ending (one that puts Gymkata's to shame) was the icing on the cake. I love this movie. Creative scary movie are always interesting to me,even when its a B movie like this. The movie makes somewhat more sense when you realized the main bad guy does what he do because he wants to.Its a great Halloween movie. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1 Share this post Link to post
Kickpuncher 5012 Posted November 1, 2013 Watching the movie now. Even more than Stacey Keach, I think Dr. McDrunky looks like late LA Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss. Share this post Link to post
neilly 105 Posted November 1, 2013 Watching the movie now. Even more than Stacey Keach, I think Dr. McDrunky looks like late LA Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss. I was thinking Mr. Baseball Dennis Eckersley (anyone know who he is? wrong crowd?) I made the Wife watch this last night, and she just could not get through the soft core porn sex scenes with Dr. Sexy. She just kept going "Bleh.Yuck.Bleh." 2 Share this post Link to post
Kickpuncher 5012 Posted November 1, 2013 I definitely know who Eck is, but don't really see the resemblance. Having watched the AMC broadcast of this on DVR, I was deprived of the "soft core porn" sex. I also don't remember the line about her being over 18 being in there, but (apologies if this was already suggested) there's no way he could have really had any doubt, because no kid under 18 would go by themselves to a morgue to identify their parent's body. CBot2000 15 Posted October 22, 2014 So I'm watching 1980's The Fog on AMC, and it's a good movie. I've seen it plenty of times just when I was younger. I didn't realize it, but this is also a John Carpenter production featuring Tom Atkins and.... he's banging Jamie Lee Curtis! In 1980, when she was the hottest thing out there, this scuzzbucket is being gross all over her. For reference, she was 22 at the time and Atkins was only 45. GROSS Share this post Link to post
OoofMaGOOF 348 Posted October 13, 2015 Re-listened to this episode today. I love listening to it near Halloween, I'd say it's in my top 5 HDTGM episodes. And dammit if I don't legit love this movie! 1 Share this post Link to post
