So a little story as I just got off the phone with my parents. I mentioned we watched JCS and they had gone tonight to see Ben Vereen in concert. Ben Vereen played Judas from '71-'73 on Broadway. He told the audience the story of when he auditioned for the role, saying he spent all day going over a song in his head that he was going to sing. When he finally got on stage for his audition, a man in the audience said he would play the music for him and went to the piano, sat down and started playing. But the tune was one Vereen didn't recognize, so he turned to the man and said, "That's the wrong song."

 

The pianist was Andrew Lloyd Webber.

 

According to Vereen, even though he got the role, they didn't speak to each other for about 10 years after that.

 

So my parents say anyway lol
