LessPopMoreFizz 14 Posted March 12, 2014 I posted this in the HDTGM forums, but I figured it deserved a drop here as well, you alternative comedy-loving darlings. Also, I'm sorry for this, this is a nightmare: Â The Dog is named 'Ketchup'. 1 Share this post Link to post

LumiereNoir 11 Posted March 24, 2014 Jake!  As a high school English as a Second Language teacher this Japanese English lesson kills me. Who writes their lesson plans? I have so many questions, but I'll leave this to your verdant imagination and consideration.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKjaFG4YN6g  I love your show so much! I found you through Julie Klauser's podcast and am working through your back episodes. Just wonderful. Thank you!  Vince Share this post Link to post
LumiereNoir 11 Posted March 27, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPedwnc5e_s  Of all the many people on youtube creating and playing homemade musical instruments, I don't think any beat Linsey Pollak for sheer creativity and audacity. He makes everything sound amazing, and he's bat shit crazy.  Here is the most extreme example of his craft. Share this post Link to post

LumiereNoir 11 Posted April 8, 2014 I have no end of questions about this one. Â http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNpyRbCgPa8 Â EDIT: I've since learned this is by Nagi Noda for Panasonic. One of 10 films made for the 2004 Athens Olympics. I don't think that explains anything, but it's comforting to know. Share this post Link to post

LumiereNoir 11 Posted April 9, 2014 This is a parody of such odd and specific things that it stops being parody and simply becomes some kind of parallel universe of high octane cheese. This is a recent Australian WWII TV series presented as if it were made in the 60s, Baby! Â http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK0OQk_vShg Share this post Link to post
LessPopMoreFizz 14 Posted April 9, 2014 So the Z-Machines are a band of Japanese Robot Musicians. The guitarist has 80 fingers and the drummer has 20 arms or whatever. Squarepusher composed some songs for them and there's an EP out. That's all well and honestly not very good, but also not so bad that I would be submitting it. Â What I am posting here is their first ever live performance in Japan. The first 90 seconds of the video are just pure nightmare fuel. Â Â That guitar robot just shrieking PUT YOUR ZIMA UP over and over again over a bad metal solo while the slogan flashes across his face where eyes should be... Â I'm pretty sure this is a vision of what hell is like. 2 Share this post Link to post

LumiereNoir 11 Posted April 10, 2014 I adore Juana Molina's music. She was a huge comedy star on Argentinian TV before she gave it up for her first love, music. That can't have been easy considering how unique her sound is. Â It's unimaginable that U.S. or European stars would allow themselves to be presented in such a funny, silly and playful way as Molina does here. It's only mildly frightening, come on and watch! Henry 3777 Posted April 12, 2014 If she weren't who she was somebody would have told her early on to knock off this kind of nonsense. As a huge fan of Tom Waits I find the uploader's video description scientifically incorrect  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3bfYXQZGwE Share this post Link to post
Quasar Sniffer 4174 Posted April 12, 2014 Scarlett Johansson is so god damn frustrating as an actress. She's absolutely perfect in movies like Her, Don Jon, Lost in Translation, and she looks great in Under the Skin. Then she does bullshit like this, or even as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. I'd buy Jake Fogelnest as the sexy Avengers super-spy before I believed Johansson was Black Widow. Share this post Link to post
LessPopMoreFizz 14 Posted April 14, 2014 Welcome to Hollywood Upstairs Medical Colleges new e-learning seminar series, also known as a pair of disembodied hands wildly gesticulating over some boobies before performing 'surgery' with little more than a condom, some plastic wrap, and surgical tape. Â http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J23M4kMZDwc Like most punk bands the music video doesn't do them just. not sure why there is skateboarding in this video.. as it's not a surf punkband. 1 Share this post Link to post

Quasar Sniffer 4174 Posted April 18, 2014 On the one hand, I think Tiny Tim being famous is the type of thing that could only have happened in the 1960s, on the other, I kind of wish he was around today and had access to the technology of Youtube and outlets like 'Billy on the Street' or 'Funny or Die.' Quasar Sniffer 4174 Posted April 18, 2014 Since Michael Alig is freshly out of jail, I thought maybe this wacky early 2003 time capsule is worth discussing, or at least the mess the guy made of his life and the lives of those around him: Â Share this post Link to post
LumiereNoir 11 Posted April 21, 2014 I keep wondering what this video is for. Are they advertising their awesome safety film making abilities? Was this meant to be a safety film? I find my own lack of faith disturbing. Â http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lNHmGMkMZk Share this post Link to post
LumiereNoir 11 Posted April 21, 2014 On the subject of people having accidents, back in the early '70s there was a band called Bloodrock who did a song called D.O.A. I was six at the time, and my friends and I were fascinated with and haunted by this song. We'd listen to it like a bunch of ghouls and puzzle over the meaning of the bloody lyrics in the same way we might share a recap of a grisly horror movie or scary nightmare. Listening to it now, it's plodding, pretentious, silly, and funny. It's also an eternal mystery as to how this ever became a national hit at the time.
