RyanSz 3140 Posted December 25, 2012 God this movie is crap. It had a decent opening with the foreshadowing of the aftermath of the heist, but then everything falls apart. Let's not forget that this whole plot by Charlize Theron and Ben Affleck's buddy hinged solely on the idea that Affleck would be enough of a scumbag to play himself off as the buddy in order to get into Charlize's pants. If he never did that, the Sinise gang would be dead in the water as far as their plan went. At least you get to see Charlize's tits. Share this post Link to post
Gym Sockerman 1326 Posted December 25, 2012 Why do they get so many cookies? -He's posing as Nick, of course. Who gets more fucking cookies than Old Saint Nick? And are you ready for this? Her last name, Mercer, has its roots in mercantile trade. 50% discount, motherfuckers. 1 Share this post Link to post
Hot - Slunch 772 Posted December 25, 2012 Now I haven't seen this movie but I'm going to assume something: 1. When Affleck puts the money in the mailboxes, that happens in the evening or at night. If that's the case, then what's to stop the mailmen from just taking loose cash that they find when delivering mail? One mailman could take all of that money if it's on his route. I mean nobody checks their mailbox until the mailman puts more mail in it. 1 Share this post Link to post
jeffdacock 64 Posted December 25, 2012 Shortly before the heist, Affleck askes the other guys if anyone of them has done a robbery. It was then I realized: these guys are basically just Truckers who hate there jobs. So they decide to rob a casino. And are absolutely willing to murder some innocent people. Also, they drive around with weapons for at least 20 people. Edit: Also, it seemes I saw another version of this movie than the guys. Gary Sinese not only shoots the cabin of the old icefisher, but goes in it. The old man is wounded but still alive and says something like "Please...I got a wife and family" to which Sinese responds: "I got a hunger, and a headache". He then shoots the ice around the man so he falls into the ice-water. Share this post Link to post
CapricaSixSixSix 100 Posted December 26, 2012 I'm gonna be that person. When you were talking about the sex scene, did you mean that Ben Affleck looked like a centaur, not a minotaur? Either way, gross. Share this post Link to post

It was in the morning it looked like so people could see a bruised and bloodied guy in a Santa suit putting wads of ccash into their mailbox. Share this post Link to post

JacobCrites 4977 Posted December 26, 2012 The moment where the gang figures out the connection between "Rudy" and "Reindeer Games" is perhaps the greatest moment in HDTGM history. Also, this episode made me realize how few callbacks there are in this show. And how much I love them when they come around. Loved Jason mentioning that he was still confused about the family relations in Sleepaway Camp and the clown rapists. 2 Share this post Link to post
Todd Mason 21 Posted December 26, 2012 You should still do FANFARE FOR A DEATH SCENE. Really. (Netflix/Amazon) Share this post Link to post

PlanBFromOuterSpace 3138 Posted December 27, 2012 I saw this one in the theater and haven't seen it since, and much like many other films you guys have covered, the only thing I remembered was tits. I don't feel the least bit bad about that, as I only have good memories of this film. Share this post Link to post
danm_999 30 Posted December 27, 2012 This movie is one of the worst examples of "makes zero sense in hindsight" plots I've ever seen, as June sort of alludes to. If OG Nick planned Affleck and Sinise to act as patsies to rob the casino all along (so he could steal the money after), why didn't he give Affleck correct information on the layout or the location of the PowWow safe in prison? For his plan to work, he stills needs the robbery to occur, and he still needs it to be a success. But instead, he basically throws a car thief with no background in robbery, no good intel and no loyalty to the heist into the pot and expects it to work. Oh, and to do this, he has to sacrifice his girlfriend to a trip to the bone zone with Ben Affleck, and run the risk that Affleck at some point escapes and tells the police. This to me is like Ocean's 12 where the last 45 minutes of the movie didn't need to happen. This movie, for being a cheap action movie, had one of the most complicated plans by a bad guy so that he may score some money. I think he didn't give Rudy all of the information so that it wouldn't seem too obvious to him. That way he would have a chance of being killed if they found out he wasn't Nick, because either way OG Nick and Charlize would still double cross the Sinise gang and with Rudy dead, it would be one less person to worry about. misterwinter 0 Posted December 28, 2012 Wonderful podcast... I discovered it just last month and have been catching up on all of the old episodes. You guys kept me company (and laughing) during a recent 10 hour car ride. To answer the question that was being asked during the podcast, Vin Diesel was originally cast as Gabriel (the role that went to Gary Sinese after Diesel departed the production).
