Episode 008 — Kiss Me, I’m Patrick McMahon LIVE!

Recommended Posts

The first and the last episodes were the best things I've heard with my ears in my life. PFT, Gourley, and Daly, Carter, MCconville, could perform a ransom note from my families kidnappers and I'd be delighted.

This podcast also turned me on to the Superego podcasts and the surreal brilliance within.

How can slanderous comedy songs made for a podcast be that insanely good. It took me an hour to get through the muscial performance part because I was constantly rewinding to hear them again.

Like a twisted, insidious drug-pusher, Andy Daly gave us a tiny taste of exhilarating podcasts... and then disappeared once we were all addicted. This unexpected hiatus, however long it lasts, will be one hell of a nasty detox period. :(

As a fan of the Pod F Tompkast, the "maybe there'll be another season" is both a huge blessing and a huge curse. No matter how long it's been you never can truly give up hope (see Daily Affirmations or Mike Detective) that they will return.

Hate to say it, but the pro-IRA comment near the end kind of spoiled what was a perfect podcast, up to that point, for me.

Purchased Bioshock Infinite today, looking forward to holding my head up proudly for refusing to attempt to throw a baseball at that black gentleman.

Sad though it is that this is the finale (hopefully season finale rather than series finale), it's great to also have Review around on Thursdays. I probably would have checked the show out even if it didn't star the great Andy Daly, because it has a really fun premise, but it's become surprisingly poignant in addition to absurdly hilarious. Anyway, back to The Andy Daly Purple Picasso Project (that's it, right?): This was a terrific capper to a remarkable eight-episode run - the Irish accents (plus whatever Aukerman was doing) were as majestic as the Emerald Isle itself!

I think it's "The Andy Daly Purple Monkey Dishwasher Picasso Project".

I loved this one. Easily one of the best of the 8. Loved the Bioshock Infinite reference. I didn't take PFT for a gamer. The Irishmen were fucking AMAZING. All the music has been so great. And as odd as it sounds, it was actually pretty heartwarming to see Patrick win the limerick-off. I didn't know which way the audience would go, after the 6th time they chanted Sheamus's name during the show.

I really hope Andy finds the time to make a second season. He actually said on his Reddit AMA that the main reason he did it was because he was contractually obligated to not really work on anything else at the time. So maybe when he finishes up season 2 of Review, he'll do season 2 of ADPPP. He's still got quite a few characters he hasn't used yet. Andi Callahan, Cactus Tony, and Gil & Golly immediately spring to mind as excellent podcast pilots. And since he only just came up with Gil & Golly a few weeks ago, why not just introduce some brand new characters we haven't heard from yet as well, and let the improv skills of Daly and his hilarious friends handle the rest.

And now, just for the hell of it, my rankings for the episodes. I'm not happy with my list, because it feels like I'm picking my favorite children, but here goes:

1. Dalton Wilcox

2. August Lindt

3. Chip Gardner

4. Patrick McMahon

5. Don DiMello

6. Bill Carter

7. Danny Mahoney

8. Wolfman Hot Dog

I also love reading everyone else's list. Everybody's favorites seem to vary greatly. It's definitely hard to rank them. They're all too good.

When is Perry Farrell gonna guest star on the Andy Daly Porno for Pyros Project?

Really? Did you listen to the Don Dimello one? I don't look to Andy Daly characters for moral insight.

Both strawman points, since I don't either and DiMello is *supposed* to be a monster.

Thanks for telling me how I should feel about it though.

So you're against a pro-IRA character, but not a "Hail Satan" character? I think it's time for people to tell you how you should feel.

Well you just made up a whole bunch of things I didn't say there, didn't you...

I feel a character on a comedy podcast who *isn't* some sort of absurdist monster shouldn't be saying "up the IRA" - it's just not necessary.

And, if you've never lived in Britain or Northern Ireland during the troubles, you've got no business lecturing me on the subject.

No, come on! Improv4humans and the Fogelnest Files are out on Thursdays.

I listen to i4h on Fridays on the way home from work. It's just what I do, okay?

I was on-board with this episode when I saw it, but listening back, I'm very perturbed at Fearnly for misremembering the baseball scene in Bioshock Infinite. The race-centric choice he described is between throwing a baseball at a horrible carnival barker OR an interracial couple comprised of a Caucasian man and a black woman, tied together to a post; not a 'black fella.' Ugh. I hate this podcast now. How dare the Monsignor mess that up.

EDIT: This is in no way intended to be a commentary on any conversation up the thread. I just realized it could be interpreted that way, but truly, I just wanted to be a nerd and call out the Bioshock Infinite inaccuracy. In no way did PFT's description lesson my enjoyment of the podcast. it was so goddamned funny for him to talk about the game in front of a live audience, that glorious steampunk bastard.

So when exactly was that? I think I completely missed it. Legitimately asking

I'll tell you a story about Johnny McGory!

Johnny McGory was named Irish Person of the year, on account of the vote being rigged by a pack of drunken Americans, and he returned home to Ireland a very minor celebrity, but the glory soon faded, and the modest stipend he had received was soon frittered away on drink and drugs and the company of loose women.

So Johnny McGory was forced to take a job illegally harvesting peat in the bogs of County Kiljoy, and the work was filthy and back-breaking and the head turf cutter was a right gobshite, but labour laws are rarely enforced on work performed under cover of darkness.

So Johnny McGory decided to stick it to his boss by listening to podcasts at work, until one night when he heard a throwaway comment to which he took exception, and so filled with righteous indignation was he that he threw down his shovel, logged onto the Internet, and posted a blistering critique on the message board for that podcast.

Then a pooka showed up, and Johnny McGory drove it away with his belt.

And that's a glorious tale of Ireland!

Right, so now that you have the personal attack out of the way, can you give me a timestamp of when he says this?

Got it. So it's not just the IRA thing. You're just kind of a dick in general.

I sincerely apologise, I misunderstood your post and was defensive because of earlier responses.

I'll look it up.
