Just to say a big thank you for the shoutout Paul made to me, Made my weekend to hear myself mentioned on my fav podcast. Thanks and happy birthday Paul. Really looking forward to Zardoz next week. Never seen it. No idea on the plot (something about guns being good and sex being bad) but the photo of Connery in the red mankini is an internet legend!

Zardoz looks nuts.

As far as "Face/Off" goes, you guys do good movies: Fast Five, Crank, Crank 2, Punisher: Warzone, Demolition Man. They're not award winning films, but they are fun as fuck and we love them because they're so over the top. Face/Off, IMHO, falls into the former category.

Is Jason saying that Face/Off is over the top crazy action good, or does he mean legit good? Does e mean "Schindler's List" good, or "The Last Boyscout" good?

P.S. You should do "The Last Boyscout." It's the best "over the top action film" ever, IMHO. Shane Black on the typewriter. Tony Scott (RIP) behind the camera, giving direction. Bruce Willis killing and taunting bad guys the whole fucking time. He even tells a "yo mama's so fat" joke to a guy who's about to execute him.

It's awesome. And somebody dies via falling into the blades of a helicopter. At the Superbowl! It's nuts.

If you approach Face/Off as an extension of John Woo's Hong Kong blood opera films, its pretty arty. Admittedly, its an overblown and melodramatic sort of arty, but that's opera for you.

Zardoz officially marks the oldest film the gang has covered, as it came out in 1974! The previous record was Xanadu from 1980. It also marks Sean Connery's long-overdue debut on the show with hopefully some more to come (The Avengers '98, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Highlander 2).

I love Zardoz. Not in a way that I enjoy it, but just the fact that something SO FUCKING INSANE, starring Sean Connery no less, exists in this Universe. The Penis is Evil, indeed.

Oh, and 'Begin Again' is indeed a charming, music-filled film of warm feelings. I concur with Mr. Scheer's recommendation.

I really liked it also. I had put off seeing it in theaters because I thought it was going to be a romantic comedy but it is much more of a character study with romance on the back burner.

if Dan Harmon isn't the guest this time, there will be riots.

I was willing to overlook his absence during Xanadu, but Zardoz.....? do the right thing, guys.

I am in that 25% that love Zardoz.

THE GUN IS GOOD. THE PENIS IS EVIL.

I think I might be in that 25% as well. I admit that I haven't seen it in a while though, but I do like crazy dystopias.

I started watching this movie.

WTF.

The first image is a disembodied head bouncing around like some type of screensaver while telling me that I will be watching his story which is set in the future and didn't happen yet.

Also, he apparently fell asleep right before this scene because someone drew on his face in magic market.

I don't want to spend 2-3 bucks on this movie. Just like most of the movies lately... I mean... if Paul's gonna bitch at us about "its a free podcast!"... then read ads to us.... he should pick movies from Crackle.... "its free movies!"... but we have to see ads.

This is a movie worth watching. Scratch that, it NEEDS watching. It's a phenomenon that must be witnessed. The fact that there is going to be a fantastic podcast afterwards is an added reward for your brave journey.
