Creepy costumes and CGI, a whopping 8% on Rotten Tomatoes, and beloved actors and musicians doing what verges on softcore furry porn for two hours? Sounds like a real contender for the pod.

Would have been way better if they didn't digitally remove Jason DeRelo's penis...

I'm just saying what we're all thinking

You got here before I did. This quote from the I09 review is glorious:

Quote

I witnessed an entire man, knit cap and coat, just standing in a scene among a gathering of cats. I saw a terrifying gray statue looming over a character, only for it to blink and realize it’s a woman who is a cat, but they colored her and then forgot to add fur. In one scene, nearly all of Judi Dench’s hand is a fluffy blond like her the coat of her cat character, Deuteronomy. In another, it’s just her regular hand, replete with what appears to be a wedding ring. Most cats have human feet, but some cats wear shoes. Except for newcomer Francesca Hayward, a ballerina who does a long and gorgeous dance number on pointe. It’s a beautiful skill and the kind of thing you’d normally need to pay to see in a theater. Here you see it for the price of a single movie ticket! But they CGI’d out her ballet shoes and gave her digital toes that skitter weightlessly across the floor, engendering a powerful feeling as wrong as that Pixar baby 30 years ago.

Based on the delightfully hilarious reviews, this "film" seems like a purr-fect choice for the show!

I feel like CATS is necessary to do but I am not really looking forward to it. The commerical for the Broadway show that ran forever traumatized me as a child. Not sure I can get through the whole thing.

I am so scared.

The studio has announced they are updating the special effects for the movie a week into its theatrical run. That has to be the fastest update in movie history.

It's the first time I can ever remember a theatrical release getting essentially patched midway through its run in theaters.

There's plenty to talk about here, but it's not bad.

Yeah, I said it.

It's a wonderful movie!

I'm only, like, 60% cynical. Cats has a ton of bad choices, but also some really good ones (Victoria as the audience's window, Mr. Mistoffelees' character) that result in an extremely fun experience. The crowd makes a huge difference too. Here in Toronto it already has cult following with sing-along screenings!

It's a bad movie in the sense that even without the glaring mistakes in the CGI, the characters often don't feel like they are actually in the scene somehow, especially when tap dancing.  There's also the issue of Idris Elba's cat being nightmare fuel when he ditches the coat and hat.  Otherwise, I agree that it is a pretty fun movie to watch if you go in knowing that there is no real plot.
