Apologies but I just finished watching this. Someone mentioned the ending being a copout. I just am wondering which part they are referring to? Joey Pants being the "mysterian" behind the search for the tapes? Or the bearded stranger in the TV store window? Overall I am glad I watched this but am disappointed Frank and Joanne didn't get together until almost 20 years later. Frank said he wanted to call her so many times. 1) Why didn't he? 2) What if she had moved? (Granted he didn't seem to have any trouble tracking down the others but still. He himself had moved.)

Sounds like SOMEONE needs a good Care Bear Stare...

Though again, the evidence seems mixed here. The filmmakers' words suggest Team Fred (he's just a projection of Lizzie's mind). The deleted scenes suggest Team Sanity (Fred is a separate and unique entity).

Yeah, I kind of agree. It doesn't totally work, but it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be now. (And jazz-dancing Peter Parker is hilarious and I wouldn't want to lose it.)

I quite liked it but can certainly understand why people wouldn’t. I grew up kind of fascinated by the dark side of Hollywood history and was apprehensive about QT exploiting the awful story of Sharon Tate, so the way it played out was a pleasant surprise for me. It gave me a lot to talk to my parents about. I loved some of the weird little details like Damian Lewis as Steve McQueen. Next to Death Proof and Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, it’s probably my favourite of his films.

Also, the Michael Jackson song “Billie Jean” came out two years before this movie. Either they had only written the script and didn’t care enough to change it, or they consciously hoped to steal from its popularity a little.

I’ve actually defended Spider-Man 3 on these forums before. No matter how many times they said it, it was not a “franchise killer.” Raimi wanted more time to do a fourth one and the studio wouldn’t (couldn’t?) give it to him. Also, the infamous dancing sequence was meant to show that Parker was tragically unhip, that trying to be cool didn’t fit him in the slightest, and that the symbiote made him into something that he wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, it has a lot of flaws and I haven’t seen it in ages, but the movie has a 63% on Rotten Tomatoes, which sounds about right. It’s really not on the level of the terrible movies that HDTGM is supposed to be about.

Finally got fast enough wifi to watch the deleted scenes. Some of them are great! Agreed re Mickey, several of those scenes humanize him in a big way and also connect a number of important dots. I don’t see how the scene in the imaginary weigh station was supposed to work, though—he says goodbye and then shows up in the dollhouse immediately after? Anyway, thanks to DrGuts for posting that vid. I can’t get the link JonnyC posted to open for some reason—maybe country restrictions? But I’ll look forward to that when I’m home this weekend. Thanks, Gray Jedi, for bumping that post. I don’t think we have to accept filmmakers’ (stated) intent (art can surpass the limits of the artist), but if they’re as clear as JonnyC says, it’s certainly a strong point in favor of that reading.

You could do the first one because it is pretty dull and has not aged well. The third one is fun but quirky enough to be a good show. Road Warrior (or Mad Max 2) is an action classic and should be off limits.

I completely agree. I also found Fred to be more tolerable too. Perhaps we should be Team Movie vs. Team Deleted Scenes.

Sean and Hayes roasted me on The Wokest, now I'm scared to listen to this ep in case I don't get any air time!

I'd say it's right down the middle for a Fast & Furious movie . . . like, almost exactly what you would expect for an average movie of this type.

I have three obsessions at this time in my life: Cyberpunk 2077, UFOs, and Hollywood Handbook. I'm struggling to find the connective tissue between them.

Made an account just to second this suggestion! This movie: - Was the most re-watched movie on Netflix in 2018 - “One of the most-watched movies in the country, and maybe the world” according to Netflix’s Chief Content Officer - 17% (!) on Rotten Tomatoes - 100% trash on so many different levels
