It’s funny, a couple of weeks ago I was listening to old eps for the Howdies, and I had completely forgotten about the Blake J Harris interviews. I was like, “Awww, remember those?” and the very next week they were back! I’m pretty sure I Secret-ed them back into existence (as opposed to “secreted” which is way more messy)

I thought her death knell was Hello, Again. Although Don’t Tell Her It’s Me literally SOUNDS terrible (especially that music score!) and I haven’t bothered to check the release dates yet.

Incidentally, Steve Guttenberg was in an 80s Thriller called The Bedroom Window with Elizabeth McGovern and Isabelle Hupert (I think?). It was directed by Curtis Hansen and is a fairly entertaining movie, except it would have been better if someone else had played Steve’s role. Still, it’s his best movie, other than Diner (apologies to Police Academy completists).

You aren't kidding. Guttenberg wasn't in another movie for five years except Three Men And A Little Lady a few months after this. For a guy who was arguably the biggest star in the US a couple years earlier, that's a huge dropoff. I wonder if he was taking a break for a while then couldn't ever get it back.

Coincidentally, right after this movie he went on to Broadway to star in...Prelude to a Kiss.

I’m trying to come up with a list of “summer” movies, and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions. I’m not really looking for dramas,  mostly comedies and action movies. They don’t necessarily have to happen during the summer, but I’d like a summer feel.

Some examples: Summer Rental, Summer School, Club Paradise.

Like, would Caddy Shack be one? Maybe Point Break?

Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated

POINT BREAK!!! So dumb but Kathryn Bigelow directs the shit out of it and it’s fucking great.

Best unexpected use of a dog in any movie ever!

i remember, even as a kid, Club Paradise being really disappointing. I think even Harold Ramis thought it sucked and he directed it.

Thanks @GrahamS.! Although, I’m gonna have to veto both Die Hard and Batman Returns as they are Christmas movies  Pee Wee’s Big Adventure definitely has a summer feel, though.

So Roger Ebert says one way to determine if a film is going to be bad:

Box Rule: Useful rule-of-thumb about movie advertisements that have a row of little boxes across the bottom, each one showing the face of a different international star and the name of a character (e.g., “Curt Jurgens as the Commandant”). The rule is: Automatically avoid such films. Example: “'The Cassandra Crossing,” “'Force 10 from Navarone,” and most films made from Agatha Christie novels.

Well look at the Don't Her It's Me movie poster. Apparently everyone did know this as nobody saw this film and I had never ever heard of it until the other day in the mini episode.

Well, I suggest you remedy that ASAP. I feel like because of the obvious metaphor of summer for the prime of one's life, a lot of "coming of age" films probably also make good summer films: Stealing Beauty, Call Me By Your Name, etc.
