When they are talking about the opening and closing themes of the film, Amy and Paul talk about the haunting instrument that they believe is a theremin. It's actually a musical saw, which was played by a guy named Robert Armstrong, pictured below holding a saw and a vinyl copy of the soundtrack.

I wonder what Paul was going to do originally

This movie is just insane, it has a psycho running around with a big guitar with a drill sticking out the end of it drilling people as he sings and dances. Nothing is explained, the "teenagers" look like they are about 25. I really feel that someone was high on something when making this.

I definitely don't see her to be pure evil or a villain quite as much her rep, but I'm not so sure about calling her "angelic" like Paul did lol

I think the are probably ways to do it. Like have the Schmuel story be well told or whatever. Or maybe show him struggle to write the perfect phrase. But that takes being a great writer (not to slam the author of this) to convey that.

That's what I mean, it doesn't translate well. Also, I just don't like that song. Damn it, I forgot to add that he said: "you realize that "know" is a great twist/ending to a song about not saying "no."

I wonder how much of this is that it's sometimes harder to show someone be a great writer and you just have to tell us. I can kind of forgive the Shmuel story because he's just retelling another story spur of the moment to his fiance. I'm sure good authors can't always make up parables relevant to their lives on the spot. As for the letter, I'd say that was probably just a prop master being cute by putting the break up lyrics as the letter. But we could say a good writer doesn't necessarily mean they are good at writing break up letters which are two different types of writing. Oh man, I noticed this and thought it was too similar to be a coincidence. Then I forgot to look it up.

I'll be there at the drop of a hat, provided that hat drops for about 15 minutes.

The purple Hayes thing reminded me of a fun thing you can do when you are singing along to this year. Instead of I played videogames in a drunken haze, you can sing I played videogames with Sean and Hayes Try it if you want.

I'm pretty sure everyone in the theatre was an HDTGM fan. They were just as blown away (and gleefully entertained) as I was.

I'm a long-time listener and have been dying for you guys to do this movie from the first time that I heard about the concept of this podcast. This movie is completely bonkers. I remember that the back of the VHS and some other promotional materials explained that the Driller Killer from the first film was back and "re-incarnated as an evil rocker," however, this is NEVER explained at all in the movie. Instead, we are just treated to possibly the most ridiculous slasher movie villain of all time. (Seen below wailing on his guitar/murder drill) Crystal Bernard from Wings is the main protagonist and she spends most of the movie playing in her mega-80's all-girl rock band and having stupidly trippy nightmares about the aforementioned Driller Killer. I don't want to spoil what I find to be the funniest part about this movie's lore, but I should mention that with just a little digging there are some very interesting things to be learned about the actor who played the Driller Killer. Anyways, here's a link to a very brief review of this movie that I felt touches on some of the reasons I feel it would be perfect for HDTGM: http://happyotter666.blogspot.com/2012/04/slumber-party-massacre-ii-1987.html

Is Alimony Tony the first catchphrase-inspired character on the show?

The cool part is that they are paying all the engineers on the episode a more than very fair amount for contributing to the podcast and acting as talent. Im so proud of them for setting that precedent. Hopefully other podcasts take note and stop exploiting these poor saps.

okay this is just TOO crazy for me not to share. so i'm sitting here at work, listening to this week's pro version when i feel an eyelash fall into my eye. as this is happening, hayes is talking about timing and being in the right place at the right time, and then he politely asks chef kevin to not to rub his eye while he's talking. i thought this was an incredibly weird coincidence, and then kevin responds with "do you guys ever have an eyelash that goes inward? an eyelash that, like, falls into your eyeball?" i do, kevin! i do have an eyelash that goes inward and that, like, falls into my eyeball! it just happened!
