My husband starred in this movie with Jeff Fahey and Jonathan Rhys-Davies... It's not very good, but brings a good laugh. Thankfully, my husband is a good sport about it and acknowledges its bad-ness. But he had fun shooting it and doesn't regret the experience. Last I checked, it was free to watch with Prime. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI57XftLAm8&feature=share

I’ve gotten a little tired of trying to think of a Movie of the Week, especially since we all have so many choices. I created this thread for anyone to talk about anything they want. It could be about movies, books, games, etc. people have been escaping into. The materials could be “good” or “bad.” Hopefully this thread will prompt discussions about stuff that’s out there. Or it could just be a safe space to rant about someone who sneezed near your groceries.

Went down a rabbit hole on this in the "Bad Movie Recommendations" forum a while back and the thread finally surfaced again, allowing me to post it here. (So that's why there's not a lot of terribly new stuff on here). I've noticed that a lot of the movies that they do fall into certain categories, like the following: 1. Something that was aiming absurdly high and failed so miserably (Gods of Egypt, The Jazz Singer remake, Battlefield Earth) 2. Something that was aiming low and still failed miserably (Howling 2, Sleepaway Camp, Star Wars Christmas Special) 3. Trying to rip off something else and failing so miserably (Mac & Me, Beautiful Creatures, Congo) 4. Weak celebrity vehicles, especially those with someone already famous for something else "looking to get into acting" (Crossroads, Spiceworld, Kazaam) 5. Attempts to take an existing franchise (not always already a film one) "In a different direction" (Superman IV, Halloween III, Super Mario Brothers) 6. Notorious bombs/duds (Gigli, Stop or my Mom will Shoot, Batman & Robin) 7. Notoriously so-bad-they're-good movies (Birdemic, Zardoz, Gymkata, The Room) 8. Straight-up next-level bonkers stuff, regardless of its infamy (Face/Off, The Room, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, Surf Ninjas) 9. Absolutely anything related to the Fast and the Furious movies. Any others that I'm not thinking of?

Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (1990)

Wonderfully horrible holiday gem. -
This week Paul & Amy tunnel through Frank Darabont’s prison allegory The Shawshank Redemption! They discuss the use of opera as a 90’s film signifier, learn why Shawshank was constantly played on TNT, and debate whether this is “the Bud Light of movies.” Plus: comedian and podcaster Duncan Trussell stops by to talk about Stephen King adaptations, and how prison films can be a metaphor for transcendence. I appeared on a podcast about movies so I thought this board might also like to listen....

Hello fellow HDTGM compatriots! Recently I had the honor of being a guest of one of my favorite podcasts, Hellbent for Horror. If you listen to the Wrong Reel podcast, you might have heard the host, S.A. Bradley, as a guest himself on that show. What I love about Hellbent is that Bradley really digs horror and what makes it special. Along with some very personal connections he has to the genre, he gets into the psychological, social, and cultural aspects of horror. There are times when he gets intimate and profound, times when he can get into the business/budget part of horror, and then there are times when he will do interviews from film festivals. It's pretty fantastic. Anyway, he invited me (John Arminio) and two other guests to appear on Hellbent for Horror's 50th episode, in which we talk about what makes a horror film a "classic," if a classic can still have an impact on audiences the way it did when it was first released, and what might be considered a "new classic." The new classics I chose to discuss were The Witch and Crimson Peak (ohhhhh, Guillermo ). I'd just really appreciate it if you Internet Denizens would give it a listen, since you are some of the smartest and most discerning (and polite!) movie-lovers on the interwebs. Thanks. https://hellbentforhorror.com/2017/08/14/episode-050-diamonds-and-rust-and-modern-horror/- 23 replies

Tell us what horrifyingly awful film you want us to watch for a Halloween-themed How Did This Get Made! We'll choose which spooky flick makes us say "boo" (from how bad it is!)

Before Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson made the most bat-shit crazy movie ever! It has all these crazy ideas in one movie with intentional hilariously bad dialogue. There's a kung fu priest who will "kick ass for the Lord". A mom whose bitten by a Rat Monkey at a zoo. A creative scene with a mutant baby in a stroller at a park. Living dead family members having dinner while their decomposing body parts are falling into their soup. And they are all corralled by the bumbling protagonist who tries to lead a normal life and keep them a secret from the love of his life(yes there's romance too). And just when you think this movie has shown it all (e.g. decapitations, zombie sex, talking intestines, zombie-o-lantern, and melting faces), it ramps up the finale showdown and it completely pays off! Best party movie ever! See it with a lot of people and be disgusted while laughing your asses off together!

hey-o! i live in SD and just bought tix for BOTH showings on august 1st! i'm so thrilled i'll actually get to watch the live show - the LA shows sell out so quickly! and it's a bit of a drive. . . but, as i've never gone to a live show before, i had a few questions, if anyone can answer: i bought tickets to both showings, because in listening to the show i understand that they usually do two DIFFERENT movies - i am just verifying that is correct? when do they announce which movies they are going to do? obviously, it's much more fun when you've seen the movie they discuss, and i want to make sure i watch it. so far i haven't been able to find any info. does anyone know when/where i'll be able to find out? yeah, that's pretty much it. thanks for any help you can offer! i can't wait! -sinn

quick lesson in Film Financing / why bad movies happen (video)
VinsanityV22 posted a topic in How Did This Get Made?
I just saw this on GeekTyrant today and thought other HDTGM fans would like to see it too. It's pretty funny and very de-mystifying! This is Adi Shankar, director of Dredd, talking about film financing today. Ostensibly, it's to break down why a sequel Dredd isn't happening OR what needs to happen to get it made. However, it's really just a great, succinct, entertaining chat about financing movies. Yes, he's dressed like The Crow (he knows that). It's all part of the greatness, guys. Just take a watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWP88WKVBKs&t=164 It's a really fun, intelligent watch. I think other fans will dig it here -
Did anyone catch Brian Posehn's incredible performance in Knights of Badassdom? He had about three minutes in the Ryan Kwanten Gets Dumped scene at the beginning. Still. It was a bit.

Bad Movie Recommendations Tournament of Gold
therealjayknox posted a topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I have an idea! Taking our already-existing pool of bad movie recommendations and narrowing them down to some kind of Top 10, Top 5 Also a #1 Only problem is that I suck at math and/or tournament formulas. Anyone know how to do this kind of thing? I'm guessing everyone starts by putting down their 10 picks yes? Then some OCD nerd among us makes a list and we narrow down etc etc? I'm going with: Return to Sleepaway Camp Sleepwalkers John Carpenters Vampires A Talking Cat?! Miami Connection To Catch a Yeti Star Wars Holiday Special because I don't think Lucas can sue anymore Superman 4 (the one with Pillow-Man) Kiss meets The Phantom of the Park Dreamcatcher Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star This is from the recommendations we have already. Again, sorry I don't know how to compile and do tournament stuff so someone smart needs to help please.
