Elektra Boogaloo 3371 Posted August 26, 2017 Definitely hoping everyone in Texas is okay! Better safe that sorry, evacuate if you can. Â The news tonight is dire. Very happy to see "Over the Top" is back up because you all know that is my anxiety podcast. 6 Share this post Link to post
RyanSz 3140 Posted August 26, 2017 Three minutes in and I already hate everyone in this film. Also why the fuck is there a mariachi band just in the girl who calls everyone chica's kitchen. Also, apparently they just decided to offend EVERYONE in this film by making everyone a blazing stereotype and a freshman girl literally just did a full wardrobe change in the middle of a school quad, with her friends covering her, but there is literally a wide open gap between two friends to where anyone could see her stripping down. And why the fuck is Jon Voight wearing a fake nose? Also according to my Amazon this is and hour and forty-two minutes long, but I swear it'd be only fifteen minutes if it wasn't for all of the horrible slow-mo for no reason. Fuck this movie. Â Also, I have zero knowledge on the dolls, but did they have any real backstory other than just dressing up in various outfits? Â Update: at eighteen minutes in, I can say this might be the fastest time in a movie where I've seen lifelong friends have a semi-falling out montage. 6 Share this post Link to post
DirtyCircle 5 Posted August 26, 2017 Thank you for those follow up posts Triple_Lindy and SweatyPremise, I merely meant to tease Paul on how he slipped and said what he said. I view it as that the concept of Marxism and it's various forms are brainwashed into American society as evil without a proper understanding of what they stand for. It seemed like he wanted to equate union busting as something bad and in his attempt to grab an appropriate word, he slipped and aligned it with the radical leftists of Marxism. He inadvertently slipped into the "Communism = Evil, Captialism = good" mindset that is much more complex than what it is often depicted, as your posts prove. 1 Share this post Link to post
grudlian. 4725 Posted August 26, 2017 Also, I have zero knowledge on the dolls, but did they have any real backstory other than just dressing up in various outfits? I think, and I could very well be wrong about this, that the dolls were each different characters. I didn't think they had proper backstories just general personality descriptions. Also, why do I know this or think I know this? Â Update: at eighteen minutes in, I can say this might be the fastest time in a movie where I've seen lifelong friends have a semi-falling out montage. Have you seen Crossroads? As I recall, the opening scene is the three girls being bffs and the literal next scene is 10 years later with them not speaking. They don't really discuss the falling out until much later though Share this post Link to post

As for the back story of the dolls and this movie, I think Robot Chicken did a much better job in their remake. 1 Share this post Link to post
FisterRoboto 7499 Posted August 26, 2017 Hey, I know that 80% of the boards live in Texas...stay safe you guys. Thanks! I think Jammer and Sammich might be the only ones in the real problem areas, but even then, I don't think SA got hit too hard. I think their biggest concern is going to be river flooding (which is ours as well). Â I read earlier that East Texas is looking at the possibility of colliding weather fronts causing a bunch of tornadoes, but that's also kind of par for the East Texas course. I lived in Tyler as a kid, and it's tornado city out there. Â Austin has been mostly spared so far. We only have 38 low water crossings that have been closed so far (which is next to nothing for us). It's a bit windy, but the rain hasn't been nearly as bad as people were predicting. And the best news is that I found out yesterday that my family that lives in Corpus Christi evacuated to D/FW earlier in the week (they're mostly retired, so they just went and stayed with family up there), and the ones that live in Houston decided to stick it out as they usually do, but they checked in this morning and are all fine. 8 Share this post Link to post

I just saw an opportunity to join in your social theory pedantry. I teach, and my students frequently come to me with that mindset, and I like to say things like, "Did you pave the roads that you drove on this morning? If not, then HOORAY for Socialism!" 2 Share this post Link to post
firsttimecallerlongtimelistenr 3590 Posted August 26, 2017 I know I've never been the target audience for this film but there's a special place in hell for the Bratz movie. I would say it's probably on a loop down there as some kind of genius form of punishment but it's already never ending so the loop would be unnecessary. I enjoyed the star wars holiday special more than this and I f##king hated that. The noises the wookiees made were less annoying than some of the singing in this piece of ..... This is the worst HDTGM movie yet. What a waste of a Saturday night. Â Edit: posted this rant before seeing Cameron's and fister's posts. Obviously there are more important things to be worrying about than the bratz movie. I hope everyone is safe in Texas and all this passes quickly. 5 Share this post Link to post

As terrible as movie is, most prominent are my hopes that everyone from Texas made it through the hurricane safely and unharmed. 4 Share this post Link to post

I hope everyone is safe in Texas and all this passes quickly. Â For me, the beauty of this show (and these movies) is they provide an escape from - not only the humdrum - but the terrible crap that's happening in the world. This is our oasis from all of that bullshit.* I guess what I'm saying is: I feel like - as rational, intelligent people with good hearts - we need to vent about the Bratz movie or Ninja Terminator or whatever just so we can face the insanity of the world around us lest it pulls us screaming into the abyss. Â Â Â Â * As I wrote that I was like, "THAT'S why I didn't like Chopping Mall or Hard Ticket to Hawaii!" Ninja Terminator was still dumb as shit, though 6 Share this post Link to post
ilovebacon 8 Posted August 27, 2017 I watched Bratz on HBO on Demand, and HELLO racial stereotypes! Wow, does it stink. Â The only saving grace was the mean girl's little sister... Tell me if she doesn't remind you of a mini Lauren Lapkus! Share this post Link to post

We're on flood watch this week but thankfully we've only gotten slight rain this weekend but it's still insane the reach of this thing. Literally it's the size of Texas. 7 Share this post Link to post
BPatrickT 6 Posted August 27, 2017 I would like to hear an episode on The Pirate Movie. Paul also said Valerian would be a future HDTGM movie. I wonder how far off those would be if they really make them? Share this post Link to post

Maybe I am in Hell? Maybe this is actually a Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey scenario and this is my own personal damnation? Â All that ruined spaghetti... 4 Share this post Link to post

Quasar Sniffer 4174 Posted August 27, 2017 I know we're not, but there is something especially repugnant about Bratz, a special series of images and sounds that brings out my Inner Old Grump. It's like if High School Musical was made by the alt-right. 6 Share this post Link to post

iamSGA 21 Posted August 27, 2017 Bratz is on HBO Now right now too. Â This is so early 2000s lol. This soundtrack is on some A Simple Plan/Sum 41 level. Â Also, blondie's mom was a nice surprise! Get the windex! 1 Share this post Link to post
