I don’t have any particular objections. If we’re going to stray from the mandate, it would certainly be nice if it’s in support our hosts’ other endeavors.

Long time listener, first time poster - and the main reason I joined the boards was to say how tacky this line from the Queen about their non-existent mixed race oppression was, but not as gross as Harry's ginger spiel right after Meghan shared her experiences as a biracial person in the US. As a black woman with biracial children, I was really troubled that the actress playing Meghan sat through a table reading, rehearsal, and final shoot of this scene and apparently thought this portrayal or rather analogy was acceptable. Yep, I'm yucking someone else's yum.

Cool! I've been meaning to watch it for a while now, and I just felt I would get more out of it if I did so in a communal setting with cool people who also love movies. Thanks for indulging me!

I think the only criteria is if this has a soundtrack people can buy. If so, game on! (Just kidding. It's fine with me.)

Ok, if I have the consent of everyone here, I would like to break form a bit and do our collective best to support the film work of one of our intrepid HDTGM hosts. And as the Road Picture is as time-honored a form as the musical in movies, I figured it would be appropriate to make my pick... If anyone has any objections, then I will definitely make a more appropriate pick. Much appreciated!

Sad to say Human Highway was less of a musical and more of a weird art house comedy thing. A very mixed bag and somehow much weirder than True Stories but not really in a good way. Here is the highlight which is Neil Young and DEVO performing Hey Hey My My

This sounds very interesting and I've never heard of it. Not sure how well Neil Young and Devo go together but this came out the same year Trans did which is the most Devo-ish album of Neil Young's career. So, this could work.

I just want to thank everybody for watching this movie. I think it's an interesting film that was a bit ahead of its time. At least we can all agree the music is great! Also, I found out on the weekend Neil Young wrote, directed and starred in a similar odd movie in the earlier 80s called Human Highway that stars and has music by, personal favourites, DEVO. Am I going to watch this tonight? Yes!

Loved the episode and everything you do! A tiny correction. Jason said that the actor playing Meghan fell in love with the crown prince of Finland. Unlike many other Nordic countries Finland is actually not a monarchy. We do have a president with a cool dog Lennu!

I was coming here to say the same thing once I checked to see that that horror show of a film was indeed made by Lifetime. Also, they are already working on a sequel to this film which will cover the first year of the couple's marriage, basically as it's happening, with a completely new cast. I have a feeling Lifetime contacted the Royal family asking if they could create a reality show based on the couple and got shot down, so they just said "fuck it, we'll just make educated guess movies about them every year until they say yes." Also with how shoddy this movie is with facts, I would have loved when the Queen was showing the portrait of the ancestor who showed the family was biracial as well, and this was the portrait:

June asked for dish of the Queen's Hubby Philip. Oh boy. Prince Philip is infamous in Britain for his 'blunt' often racist gaffes of which there are many. While touring a school, he once looked into a circuit box and said it looked like 'a bloody Indian put it in. He also joked that a bunch of British students in China would 'get slitty eyes' is they stayed too long. His history is amazing too. His Dad was King of Greece but got deposed, leaving Philip more ore less penniless and bouncing from one rich relative to another. His parents divorced basically because his mum was deaf and no-one bothered to learn sign language, she later became a nun. While staying in Venice as a teen, he owned his own gondola and would regularly row young ladies back home after p[arties and take the chance to get off with them. The latest story regarding him happen a month ago when he drove his Range Rover into another car outside their country estate and injured the driver and her child.

I will back up everything you are saying here. I can only go by what I know from my friends and people I've met but most people do not know accents. I should say people who study English or particularly like a certain country will notice a difference but the average person will think it's all English. There might be "He sounds different than him" but not the the point of thinking about country of origin. Also, unless again they know English they will be reading the subtitles at the bottom of the screen and not so much care about how they sound. It's more about the look of the person and also a hollywood name. Which I find odd because I don't image John Cusack is a huge draw in China. I think it is more about "we have a hollywood star" than anything else.

This movie is FUCKING GARBAGE. I was so angry after I watched this, it was one of the few times I bothered to go on imdb and write a review. This is a film where John Hurt builds a talking, time traveling Lamborghini and meets not just the singer from INXS, but Mary fucking Shelley. It turns out that the story of Dr. Frankenstein is actually *Law & Order sound effect* TRUE, and the shittiest possible Frankenstein's monster wants the Lamborghini for himself. A movie so bad it gave Raul Julia stomach cancer.
