So I'm going to say the Tunes' comeback win over the Monstars isn't all that impressive. Why? Well, near as I can tell the Monstars are only fielding five players, the ones who stole the abilities of the NBA stars. Meanwhile, the Tunes seem to be rolling out a roster of 30 players or more, and all of them get on the court at some point (how referee Marvin the Martian is allowing this big a roster is unexplained). Of course the Monstars faded at the end of the game! Big scary monsters or not, anyone is going to get tired playing the full game with no one getting a break. Big tactical error by the Monstars there -- their coach should be fired.

I went to a Prince tribute concert a few weeks back that was filmed for TV. It was pretty awesome, check the line-up

Hi all!! I know I've been away from the forums for a while. in fairness, I adopted a puppy last fall so my movie watching has been interrupted by play and training. (she's on Insta at @Frida_von_schmiegen). I"m excited to jump back in with something I just noticed is streaming on Netflix. I have some backups if we've done this one, but my pick is.... Purple Rain! ETA - Thanks Cameron for the heads-up that it was my turn

Alright, This one Is the reason I joined this forum. Love the podcast, and I think this is pure gold. It's a 90's action comedy ( red flag) with Dane Cook ( red flag) and Dennis Rodman ( red flag!). Cook tries and fails to be Jim Carrey and Dennis Rodman has all the charisma of a piece of parquet, and it's got a villain that seems to be a rejected version of Buster Bluth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjJEBQCLbZ8&at=87 What do you guys think? Also, the Dane Cook raptor scene starts at 1:27

Another thing not mentioned is that the original 1996 Space Jam website is still up and running, one of the few remaining relics from pre-2000s Internet. Give it a whirl: https://www.spacejam.com/

I owe this to my friend who asked a question at the live show and was cut out of the podcast. It was my fault, I told him to ask it. Although he butchered it completely, this is what he meant. Is space jam the original Get Out? The nba players have their minds removed and put into someone else’s body, just like in Get Out. Michael is then taken to the “sunken place,” where he is to become a slave. My theory is that the Toons are in on it, which is why they picked a game they don’t know how to play. They convince Michael that they are his friends, and then Michael risks it all and says that he should be the only one to be enslaved. All the toons, the nba, everyone is in on it. That’s why no one is surprised when he gets sucked down into the “sunken place”. No one is surprised or shocked because, again, they’re in on it. Michael does Get Out. But the nba has still not gotten their justice for trying enslave Michael. Which is why Lebron James has come for them in the sequel.

When Jordan is at home watching TV with his kids, there is a pile of VHS tapes next to the TV. The only title that is visible is the 1987 classic Disorderlies. Who knew Air Jordan was a fan of The Fat Boys?

I was going to recommend The Boys as well, even though I haven’t finished the season yet. Also Homecoming—from the creator of Mr. Robot and based on an excellent podcast—is supposed to be good. I’m looking forward to watching Purple Rain. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, but I remember it being a good match of performer and material.

I loved The Boys once I finished the final episode of Season 1.

Definitely watch GLOW. This reminds me. I accidentally signed up for a month of Amazon Prime. What Prime originals should I watch this month before I cancel it? I obviously started with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and I'm watching Fleabag already.

Guess this is my cue to sign back up with Netflix for a month or so. There's a show I want to at least sample (GLOW - I have a crush on Betty Gilpin).

First off I want qualify that I was not the adult man in a diaper. Secondly, I feel like there needed to be more discussion of Lola Bunny who launched a thousand furry fetishes; in a kids' movie no less. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5I_AfsgdPU/?igshid=yeoj6jsm0km4 Thirdly as a Chicagoan(suburbs count fight me) I feel like this episode totally counteracted the good will from taking down our collective cinematic villain (Blues Brothers 2000). The soundtrack was great, kids loved it, it's already a movie where cartoon characters exist in parallel to normal reality so why are you looking for plot holes in the sci-aspects? PS. Why no discussion of Wayne Knight's hero's journey? He follows Michael into Tune World when no one else will. He steps into the game against the Monstars knowing that they will annihilate him. He should be the protagonist of the movie.

They are called Looney Tunes which was a play off of Merrie Melodies.

Do you think Marvin being the referee because he is both an alien and a Looney Toon and therefore impartial was intentional or is that giving this movie too much credit?

I’m just confused as to how Jason and June are so lost on why the title works. Let’s break it down: Jam (noun) - an awkward situation or predicament -- The Tunes found themselves in a bit of a JAM when they are kidnapped by aliens from SPACE. Later, the basketball players who have their talent siphoned away are also in a jam, caused by the same space dwelling aliens. Jam (verb) - slang term for a slam dunk in basketball. --This is the reason for its use in the title of the popular video game NBA JAM. In Space Jam, we once again reference the aliens from space and the generally fun-to-watch action of the slam dunk. Jam (noun) - slang term for one of your favorite songs - “Yo! Hit ’Em High is my JAM!” -- The soundtrack for Space jam was quite popular, with a number of hits including R.Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly”, which people may shun now, but was enormously popular at release and for years after. The title works in many ways, none of which are that much of a stretch to reach. Jason, June, stop hatin’.

We NEED to make Ghosts of Mars happen. Please don't make this once-in-a-decade film get overlooked. Ice Cube, Jason Statham, Natasha Henstridge, John Carpenter years after he lost touch with reality, space, horror, Pam Grier, an evil bad guy that yells gibberish at his followers, Clea Duvall, Letting a prisoner free because he wanted to get some food... Ghosts of Mars is an incredible, overlooked MASTERPIECE of bad movie-making. I created an account just to say this. PLEASE take a closer look at Ghosts of Mars. As Jason Mantzoukas might say, "It. Is. Literally. Amazing."
