1 pointWhere's the enthusiasm, the spunk, the integrity of the good old days? I remember when I could rant about something political and PFT himself would tell me I'm a grubby shit person, right here in the forums! Where is the magic, where is the connection, where is the foam corner? I was doing dishes and accidentally shattered my CBB pint glass about three years ago, and I feel like this place has never fully recovered.

1 pointOne of the not-so-good Wes Craven films. About a convict that makes a deal with the Devil to survive execution by electric chair and instead becomes pure energy that can possess any human (or TV set). Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner on the X-Files) stars as the killer. Ted Raimi is in it. Dr. Timothy Leary has a cameo. John Tesh too! Alice Cooper, Megadeth and 80s metal supergroup The Dudes of Wrath all did original music for the movie. 8% on Rotten Tomatoes.

1 pointI'm watching it on Youtube (sometimes they have movies free with ads, so i try to take advantage), and how has this NOT been done?!

1 pointIt's a Memphis Kansas Breeze song in reverse! https://twitter.com/twlldun/status/1301806534687690752/photo/1

1 pointSO if I watch this do I get one-half credit towards watching Mary Poppins? They both have Mr. Banks in them.

1 point@gigi-tastic had asked me to post her pick for her if she wasn't able to. So...I'll take away the suspense. This week, in honor of it being Halloween month, we will be watching...

1 pointEver since Russell Crowe pointed this out in an interview (referring to Tom Cruise), that has always been a benchmark for me - is an actor willing to look like the bad guy or be unlikeable to the audience? That's the difference (or a difference) between an actor and a star.

1 pointI take affront with Jason saying Purple Rain is a better movie. Under a Cherry Moon is by FAR the better film. Maybe I just really hate The Kid the character he plays in Purple Rain but I always feel like it's just a depressing watch except for the music parts. Oh and seeing that lady get thrown in a dumpster. That will never not be so crazy it doesn't delight me.

1 pointMy dream job is production design on stuff like these album covers or the made-up computer interfaces that they use in movies. My favourite of which is probably the vampire scroll decoding app that someone happened to have in one of the Blade movies, I think. Anyone else reminded of Alice Cooper's Flush The Fashion with that Cry for Help album cover? Edited to add a fun fact: the late Phil Hartman used to design album covers in the 70s, including for bands like America. He basically had Michael Beck's job from Xanadu.

1 pointEugene Levy always took me some getting used to, his performance is so bonkers. But I've grown to really love it, it's so funny.

1 pointI really enjoyed how the movie played with Mitch and Mickeyâs relationship. There are hints throughout that her motives arenât entirely pure, but OâHara plays it so well that you still buy her con.
-
1 pointI think the thing that causes your biggest complaint is the movie is improvised. So, the funniest takes are just whatever they said in the moment or the funniest bits overshadowed the actual plot threads being any resolution. So, if a three hour cut exists, it solves your problem but I bet that cut drags.
-
1 pointNot necessarily. Unlike a play or something, they all have their own sets that are completely independent from one another. Not quite the same thing, but I played in a Battle of the Bands with 20 something bands, and while we all got a chance to do a sound check, we didnât sit through them. Youâd do your thing and then go off and wait for your turn.
-
1 pointThat has always been pretty much my impression of the film as well - baby boomers stuck in the past, oblivious or just not caring how the world has passed them by. And while I get that comparisons to Spinal Tap are inevitable given that a lot of the same people are in both movies, it's also important to remember that a lot of the energy and appearance of the earlier film is down to Rob Reiner as a director.
-
1 pointAgain, I think the movie is showing how uncool folk is. Where you expect there to be drama, there isnât â except for *them* there is. Does that make sense? Itâs a bunch of Mr Rogers and this is as edgy as they get. I loved the New Mainstreet Singers, because it was about how a group can evolve to the point itâs unrecognizable, but is able to kind of âcash in.â They only have one of the original 9 members so they can technically call themselves the same band, but theyâve gone from being this quasi-Christian group to this color worshiping cult. It reminded me of how Mike Love gets to call his group âThe Beach Boysâ even though Brian Wilson has more original band members in his current band.
-
1 pointWhen Young Steinbloom told Mitch that Mitch was Mr. Steinbloom's favorite, I expected him to say that to all the groups.
-
1 pointNot to mention they could only get three groups to play. The influence Mr. Steinbloom was reputed to have was illusory as well. ("Illusory". Thank you Word-of-the-Day calendar!)
-
1 pointWell the conclusion was it's "pointless" and I'm saying completely otherwise. The point is this is what this world is.
-
1 pointI agree with this. It really is kind of like the flip side of Spinal Tap in it that the true antagonist is self-importance. These are characters who are barely remembered even within their own circle (âI remember this song. Itâs pretty. It had the kiss.â), so the fact that theyâre even doing this huge show is a big deal. And even then, the show isnât what youâd really call a âbig dealâ as itâs a PBS concert that will amount to basically nothing. So the movie is about a bunch of has beens trying to recapture a moment that never actually was.
-
1 pointWill Mitch lose his mind and never return? Do the Folksmen figure out what to play? There's drama there, it's just not as showy as a drummer exploding. And I'd argue that's the point. That's the nature of such a quiet folk music world. The big drama is when the opening act opens with the song the next band was going to play. The jokes are quieter, the drama quieter, the music quieter. This isn't about rock stars, it's about a bunch of corny musicians.

1 pointSince there is a a Looney Tunes version of Mars/Space, then it stands to reason that there is also a Moron Mountain inside of the Looney Tunes Universe. Since that version of Moron Mountain is inside the LooneyVerse, those Nerdlucks are Looney Tunes characters. Why didn't bugs and the crew recruit the Nerdlucks from the Looney Moron Mountain to play for their squad. Being that these would be Looney Tunes versions of what are already cartoons in the real world, they would be exponentially more powerful than their real cartoon counterparts! They probably could have even stolen the talent from the already mutated versions of the "real" Nerdlucks to become all powerful Gods and just annihilate the other team (or at least beat them really bad at basketball).

1 pointHi all. One of the only reasons I am still on Facebook is because I am part of quite a few shitposting groups for various shows, artists or topics that I am a fan of (such as; Bojack, IASIP, Spongebob, Brooklyn 99), where people post mostly post original content/memes, general comments and opinions, or also to arrange local meetups, regarding the groups subject. Unless I am doing a bad job in finding it, I think there is a severe lack of representation for Comedy Bang Bang shitposting, and I think we can all agree that there is a LOT of content we can work with, from both the Podcast and TV show. If anyone might be interested in joining, Iâve set up a preliminary group on Facebook to get the ball rolling. Iâll admit Iâm not hot on creating my own sweet âtent, but boy do I appreciate it. The group is called Comedy Bang Bangposting Would absolutely love to bring together more fans of one of my favourite shows! hope to see some of you on the FB!

1 pointYeah, exactly! Scott, didn't reply on Twitter either. Come on guys spread the word about it!

1 pointIt's now been featured on My Year World of Flops. And, seeing as how HDTGM inspired Nathan Rabin to see "Drive Angry," I feel like they should be inspired by this. It would be awesome. Heck, get Rabin to guest.

1 pointIt's pure nightmare fuel. We had the talking standee in our lobby for like 3 months, and I still didn't believe it was going to be a real movie. It seems like one of those fake movies within a movie that's supposed to satirize how stupid kids movies are, but sure enough, it's real. I caught a couple minutes of it here and there, and it seems like it's a movie for 2-year-olds that was written by 6-year-olds...on cocaine.
