Whaddup whaddup. I stuck the audio from the CYOA ep into a website and now you can play through the adventure for real! Surprisingly that very long episode only had about 17 minutes of actual CYOA storyline (most of which is dead ends) but it's still pretty fun to play through. One thing that makes the choice of having the opening black and white flashback set just ONE YEAR before the main events of the film so damn stupid is that the novel 'Frankenstein' was published in 1818, fully 70 years before 'Van Helsing' takes place! Why not have this flashback take place in 1818, then jump forward to 1887? That way, it's slightly more reasonable for Frankenstein's monster to be buried and forgotten, and gives more credence to the Creature's immortality, which is why Dracula is so interested in him in the first place. Instead, the movie actively changes the setting of this classic novel and the result is something worse. I guess I should not be shocked that the people who made this movie have not read a book.

Panic pick, but have wanted to watch the original and think it's on Amazon Prime/streaming right now.. A Star is Born (1937) And I'm sure we can definitely discuss/compare the remakes (especially the latest one)

The Masked Guest is without question the funniest podcast Hollywood Handbook has produced. I laughed all the way through it. Still the most creative podcast around!

I watched the first four this month and at the start of every one, I thought "Did I accidentally start the wrong one?" They all start so confusingly different from the previous that it was plausible. I don't know if this is how the books are of they just assume the audience has read the whole series. So, I'm not saying you should skip the movies, but I really don't think it hurts much if you don't watch them all.

We're trying to start a new tradition of showing HDTGM movies on Thursday nights at the Hop Shop in Brooklyn, and in the absence of a fresh episode to preview this week we'll be digging into the archives to show DOUBLE TEAM, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman (covered on episode 82). We've got a projection screen, quality sound system, free popcorn and many delicious beers on tap and in bottles/cans. The movie will start around 8, but Happy Hour runs from 5-8 so come earlier to save a few bucks. Let Mike the bartender (that's me) know you're there to ask "How did Double Team get made?" The bar is located at 121 Columbia Street; see you there on Thursday (4/4) night!

Dude, trust me, with this you can. Actually just watch Breaking Dawn Part 1 and you'll literally get everything from the first 3, because they still harp on the same shit and you'll get to see a grown man fall in love with a CGI baby.

On the podcast they were talking about how they should have made a Van Helsing movie with Kate Beckinsale as Van Helsing ("Pam Helsing"). Only they basically already made that movie and it's Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. It's just as crappy, but only 88 minutes long so already an improvement.

If I know this group we're all gonna end up watching every version anyway lol.

lol- Shenanigans! Rolling a cigar is an art! I refuse to believe Mr Hyde took the time out of murdering "12 men, 6 women, 4 children, three goats" and massacring poultry to properly age tobacco leaves and case them. That being said, a Van Helsing prequel featuring Mr Hyde as an apprentice torcedor is a something I would very much like to see.

Omg I had totally noticed that she wasn't on beat at ALL but I never thought it would have to do with who she ends up being at the end. Damn, if that's the amount of detail put into this then I'm even more blown away than before.

They are a family who work as undercover paranormal investigators This, my friends, is kind of my own personal Moby Dick of hard-to-find bad movies. I originally got a screener of it years ago and was horrifically delighted. Then I lost it and couldn't find a copy anywhere, no matter how hard I looked. (Meaning once every few years I'd make a half-hearted attempt to find a copy ) Fortunately, the entire movie is available on YouTube should anyone want to check it out (with subtitles). I'm linking to the trailer. Come for author Frank Peretti mugging it up in his own movie like Doc Brown's less fortunate sibling, stay for stellar dialogue like this, from the school jock to the new Christian girl: "Do you believe in the hereafter?" "Most definitely." "Good. Then you must know what I'm here after." It's bonkers.

That "breakdown" in the first song was simply fantastic! Filled me with so much joy. And apparently everyone in the studio too. Will Hines is a treasure, and Dan handled it perfectly! C+ bit!

Larry Cohen, the guy who wrote Cellular (and Phone Booth) and Directed such classics as The Stuff has died at 77. I guess someone else will have to step up and write whatever would have been the next iteration of communication-device-based thriller film. Perhaps Paul, June, and Jason???
