Ok no. Paul she has to tell her friend! Or at the VERY least speak to the fiancee. This is not ok. Being drunk does not absolve this behavior. The fiance *should* be the one to speak with her and talk about his transgression. It's not fair for her to carry that burdon. I'm so sick of holding on to these little transgressions. They weigh on your soul. Her friendship will be tainted by this and she and her friend have done nothing wrong yet their relationship will suffer for it. Worst of all her friend won't know the cause.

Man, I hate to gripe because you all know how much I love HDTGM, but I really wish that if they're going to take phone call C&O's they weren't using the calls that are points people brought up on the boards. Of the three calls, two of them were points brought up by forum people (specifically @Vegas820 and @RyanSz). And, of course, the third call was actually brought up on the show, so I don't even know what was up with that. I mean, I'm not saying that I brought the heat this week, I know I didn't, but there were plenty of other people here who did. I'm not sure why their observations were bumped so someone could bring up something that was literally brought up on the show. I get trying to pick posts that give Paul something to bounce off of, and I get that people can come to the same conclusions independently, but it really bums me out when people take the time to come onto the boards to share their funny and insightful observations only for someone to just call in on their way to work or something and gank their point. (This isn't even to mention the amount of times some of these calls he been almost verbatim recitations of things people have written here, but that's a whole other bag of worms). I don't know, it just kind of annoys me. But congrats to @Cam Bert, @Smigg, and Justine for the win!

Sorry for the shamelessness. I was a second rounder in the Austin Film Festival screenwriting competition with my script "Some Like It K-pop," a gender-flipped reimagining where two girls disguise themselves as men to join a Korean boy band. I don't often get a chance to bring it up in conversation, but I never pass up the opportunity :)

I'm not going to lie I was a a little bit sad that my carefully researched statistics weren't mentioned but I figured that it was a bummer of a topic so that was why. I have been really getting annoyed by the callers coming in at the Q and A section because I feel it cuts the flow. I feel like if they did the phone calls at the start of the section it might be easier to deal with.

Obviously too late for the minisode and the very constructive posts by fellow users about the wider issue of sexual harassment and assault. However, I read an interesting piece of trivia on IMDB that this was one of three major cinema releases in the early 90s to deal with the topic of sexual harassment. This one, which was about a woman being the harasser, Gross Misconduct which was about a woman falsifying a complaint, and Mamet's Oleanna which sort of showed both parties' sides of the story. I think if people tried to get their information about the issue in real life from how it's portrayed in these films, they might get the wrong idea.

The MST3K version is on Hoopla. It might make it a little more watchable (although they might edit it a bit)

Movies are personal, like music or anything else. I can explain what I like and don't like about a given movie - my recommendation to anyone who wants to discuss a film with me is be able to say more than just "it sucks, it was the worst." Stuff like that just makes me assume you have hardly seen any other movies, or you don't care enough to be articulate about it. So why would I care about responding? In general terms, I find I enjoy films that show me something I wasn't expecting. Maybe the trailer gives me one set of expectations and then the film itself is a delightful surprise somehow. I also enjoy films that are just fucking strange in one way or another - where I find myself asking, well, "How DID this get made? How did this script get past a Hollywood executive? Who thought this would be a good idea and why were they so invested in it?" I tend to be more impressed with that kind of thing if the film has a big budget and big stars, therefore big stakes but they still do something bizarre because somebody is using their clout to get it done. I will add that with today's home theatres and the blurring of the line between what a movie even is and what television is (eg., Netflix), I appreciate films that give me a reason to go to a movie theatre with a big screen and immersive sound and at least a few other people who also care about that experience. Production companies essentially use the same tools to make everything now, it's just a matter of how big a budget you have to do special effects and hire bigger stars or whatever. So I can certainly understand why Ad Astra is not for everybody, but it's my kind of film in at least those three ways, and probably some others I'm too lazy to talk about now.

This is up next week. I watched about a half hour on Prime before I realized this would be much less awful watching the MST3K episode on Netflix.

One of my very few claims to fame is that I appeared on L!ve TV performing stand-up comedy, which was broadcast straight after the topless darts. My act had to be cleared by Legal before it could be broadcast.

I just wanted to add I'm also really grateful that @Smigg., @GrahamS. and everyone else feels safe enough to talk about these things here and I'm so sorry so many of us have dealt with such bullshit. I want to say that my personal experience with sexual harassment and assault didn't really start until my 20s but I know that if I really though about it it probably went back much later. There are so many small things we condition ourselves to brush off that if we really let ourselves think about them aren't that small. They can be pretty big. My lighter note is that it's day two of my favorite week of the year: Fat Bear Week! Every year Katmai National Park has a contest on their Facebook page for the fattest bear in their park. I urge you all to head over for a truly wholesome and bodacious time! I feel like maybe I should call in to let Paul know since he loves the Country Bears and these are also, technically, fat bears out in the country, but I worry that it's too late and he might not get the message this week. https://m.facebook.com/KatmaiNPP/?ref=m_notif&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic

I go away for a few days to deal with a migraine and I come back to a friendly little buddy! I'm both delighted and worried about the extent I will abuse this new power. Look I'm doing it already. I hedgehog'ed my own post. His name is Gerald and I love him.

I’m pretty convinced this wasn’t a scripted line and rather something Miller added himself. I happened to be watching Bordello of Blood recently and he delivers a very similar line. After a quick Google search I found countless references to Prozac in his stand-up and books. It was the 90’s... I’m sure he thought it was a very topical and didn’t mind retreading the same material.

Jason got it right on the Prozac gaffe. You need to take that shit daily for 4 to 6 weeks before it takes full effect, and popping a single Prozac would have negligible effect. But the really crazy thing about that mistake being in this particular movie is that Michael Crichton is a fucking doctor. If that's how he thinks Prozac works, I'm glad his books kept him away from the hospitals.

The Live show 100% made it worth it. There was a definite "connection" with the audience because of a shared hatred that we all had to watch it. I can't remember how often in PREVIOUS episodes it happened but several times here the audience just let out a chorus of "booooooo"s. People were SEETHING over this movie. I think if the movie had just been mediocre it would have been 'whatever'. The movie genuinely pissed everyone off and the hosts completely played off that. I think knowing that's NOT in fact a student film and a "family project/series" is absolutely SHOCKING and is acceptable for being a punching bag.

Okay after now watching the live show I take back what I wrote originally about it feeling like a punishment of Canadian fans. The live show made enduring this movie actually worth it and it was amazing.

I have to say as a long time ardent fan I was REALLY disappointed with this ‘movie’. This isn’t a bad movie or a so bad it’s fun movie or a forgot weird gem it a terrible student film that is the biggest piece of sh-t I have ever seen in my life. It’s like you wanted to punish the Canadian audience by picking a (very bad) student film about the American political system (sort of) which many people here won’t get and then you chose one that is impossible to find without a hack and a computer hooked up to TV - and deciphering the password clue. I was able to get over all those barriers but about 1 minute in immediately regretted my tenacity. This movie has 0 redeeming qualities. Besides the John Snow poster (not the scene just that it was in there) and the amazingly bad ADR. This was insanely sad. My wife was was mad too. We got merch shirts and were psyched and instead of something like ‘Teen Witch’ we get this just utter trash. I’ve seen many film school movies and this was one of the worst. I expected more and think you left your fans down here big time with this.

Noted. BTW, I think you should bring your baby and taunt them with it if their podcast is feeling lackluster.
