Not that critical consensus on RT or any other site is perfect, but most of her movies (I have seen What's Up Doc and remember liking it, but that was a LONG time ago) get a rating of 70% or less. Funny girl actually got 93%. Funny Lady got 33% (most of her films rank in this area, including A Star is Born). What's Up Doc was the only other film that got a score in the 90s. It's pretty funny--Roger Ebert gave Funny Girl four stars, but he had all the same complaints that we did. It's one of the weirder reviews I've read because it boils down to, "Barbra Streisand is great! The rest of the movie, not so much! Four Stars!"

Besides all her concerts? Probably The Way We Were and Yentl. I remember watching The Prince of Tides, but I can't remember any details about it.

I don’t know if you’re still taking submissions, but one June not having it moment that I LOVE is in The Jazz Singer episode when Paul and Jason were perplexed by Lucie Arnaz changing the baby’s diaper on the beach and June says something to the effect of “I saw a single mother making a choice and I didn’t question it.” The way she said it was like dropping a mic. The Little Italy episode when they revealed the movie had been released within a couple months of them making the episode and June was so shook, “like a rattle inside her body”. I often use that quote in my everyday life. I don’t know if that would fall under June not having it or what... I love the idea of a fashion category! In Jaws 3D, the whole conversation about Jason’s fanny pack leading into Paul’s book bag is a pretty great one. June Slam or audience abuse from Meghan and Harry, when the audience member complained about it being the second time she had to do an accent to ask a question and June says something like and you haven’t taken the time to work on it since last time. Another audience abuse that I thought was great was the tank top bros in the balcony. Jason and June ridiculing them. They ended up redeeming themselves. I cannot remember what episode this was though. Somehow, they have to work in June being on jury duty and calling in. That was AMAZING. On The Spirit of Christmas.

The final four! 6/25 It Happened One Night 7/1 Jaws 7/8 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid 7/15 Casablanca After that, we get Unspooled 2: Electric Boogaloo! Stay tuned to see what that means. I think what we know so far: it isn't list-based, but there's a lot of movies to watch for it.

A dollop of daisy a day defines a defunct and disastrous dependency on daily dairy in your diet you daft dullard.

Not a summer movie, but I thought appropriate...

"Raining cats and dogs" seems to imply they're liquefied, "hailing cats and dogs" would make a lot more sense.

This will always be my favorite Ben Vareen performance:

Here are a couple screen grabs from the other numbers. The first song is called "So Long, Honey Lamb" and the second is "It's Gonna Be a Great Day."

Here's Ben Vereen's stand-alone number from Funny Lady.

In case anyone is interested in this kind of thing, I've started my own amateur film podcast called Double Reel. I've just released the second episode, which includes a discussion on Tarantino and Silver Surfer, how close he got to making a film of it, would he still do it, what would it be like? A lot of speculation obviously but if you like geeky film stuff you might like it.

Not to mention summer camp movies! Little Darlings (uh, maybe hasn't aged well), Meatballs, Wet Hot American Summer, Sleepaway Camp, Friday the 13th.. hm.

The doctor beat me to The Sandlot suggestion. The Kings of Summer, maybe? Stand by Me? Comedies seem more likely, like The Great Outdoors, Vacation, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. For animated choices, A Goofy Movie, Lilo & Stitch, or Spongebob The Movie Oh, and no one said Endless Summer?

What's Up Doc? with her and Ryan O'Neal is a very funny homage to 1930s screwball comedies that I think you can give a shot.

Without being too negative, does anyone have a Streisand movie that they do like? (looking at you @tomspanks) I know a couple of you watched her version of A Star is Born, but as I said when we covered the original, I just don't think I like that story, so I doubt I would like her version any better.

I watched Funny Lady overnight and enjoyed it overall. (I'm not sure how much of that is from having seen the first movie recently. If I had to wait seven years for it I might not have had the same affection.) James Caan does a much better job than I expected. Billy Rose is still a world-class asshole, and it's stupid how easily Fanny gives in, but she (spoiler alert) does get her own back in the end. We get to see a lot more of Fanny's inner thoughts and how she deals with things, instead of the slapdash style of the first movie. Several people commented on how Barbra was made to look stunning in Funny Girl. In Funny Lady that's dialed up a few notches, including the sex appeal with some very revealing costumes. There are some troublesome "blackface" or "Lawd, save us" numbers. (The latter has the most revealing costume.) Ben Vereen has a part in the worst blackface song and then has a solo a short while later. I am surprised that a 1970s musical would have troublesome numbers in it, even if it is depicting the 1930s. I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind seeing it again. For others, let me quote the best Letterboxd review from indi: "my parade: rained on". (I just had to add that since several people mentioned "Don't Rain on my Parade".)

Coincidentally, right after this movie he went on to Broadway to star in...Prelude to a Kiss.
